The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts employment for correctional officers will increase 4 percent by 2024, while employment for private detectives and investigators is expected to grow 5 percent by then. The BLS states that the demand for private detectives and investigators is due to “heightened security concerns, increased litigation, and the need to protect confidential information and property of all kinds.” Plus, the increase in employee background checks and identity theft are also reasons for the increase.
