Hospitals seek nurses to meet growing patient demand

NDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital officials say they’re seeing an increasing number of patients right now, and they’re looking to hire more than 60 nurses to help care for them.

Stats from the hospital show the number of inpatient visits grew three percent in 2014, and the number of births there grew 11 percent.

Lee Ann Blue, Eskenazi’s Chief Nursing Officer, says the increase in patients came with their new facility, and she says it may be due to changes in healthcare reimbursement in Indiana.

Also she adds, as the baby boomer population ages, the need increases for nurses as well.
