Cuyahoga Community College Announces Alliance with University of Phoenix

Career College Summary:

  • Cuyahoga Community College has announced an alliance with the University of Phoenix that offers reduced tuition and fees to Tri-C graduates. But the cost to take online classes from the for-profit institution or on its campus in Beachwood in most cases is higher than attending Cleveland State University.
  • Eligible Tri-C graduates can receive a 10 percent tuition reduction at the University of Phoenix once enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at the school.
  • To qualify, students must have earned their Tri-C degree after Feb. 18, 2014. It costs between $500 and $600 a credit hour for upper level courses depending on the field of study, according to a tuition estimate function on the University of Phoenix's website.
  • Cleveland State University charges $401.50 per credit hour for undergraduate courses for in-state students.
  • Tri-C said the University of Phoenix also will provide qualified students a Prior Learning Assessment for free, a saving of about $100. The assessment allows the university to review a student's learning, work and life experiences to determine if prior experiences can be used toward college credits.
